Umpiring reminder!

This is a minimum of 2 Umpires but subject to the consent of the Exec it could be up to 4 Umpires.  n  n Below is an extract from the local rules: nn  n Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0cm; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} n 10.1 Umpire Pool... n ....The allocation of Umpires to matches is done by the Exec and is dependent upon at least one team being on a bye week. The allocation of umpires is on the basis of need, past provision of umpires by the teams involved, and finally with a view to ensuring that provision of umpires is spread evenly and fairly across the teams. It will be the Bye team’s responsibility to engage an umpire from the league pool, it must notify the Exec if it cannot do this at least 96 hours before the match.  n   n If the bye team fails to provide an umpire who has been allocated from the Umpire Pool, when it is their responsibility to do so, they will incur a one point penalty for each game that they cannot provide an umpire. Note that the penalty only applies if the umpires are not provided by the bye team on their bye week as per the allocation of umpires to games on the fixture list. Also note that the provided umpire does not necessarily need to be rostered to the team who has responsibility of arranging the umpires. n   n For information, the League Committee are able to apply a range of sanctions against teams where they think that this is appropriate. Assigning penalty points is one such option available to them. n

Season start delayed

Ninth team still in the balance. The exec has decided that the 2010 season will now start on May 18th, delayed by one week, at the BMW Rover Ground for the following reasons. 1. We are still helping out the new people and hope that they will form a 9th team 2. Unfortunately we don't enough volunteers for line marking this week on Wednesday May 5th. Therefore, there will be another week of Grapefruit games, or please organise amongst yourselves next Tuesday May 11th at Oatlands park. The final schedule and 2010 season details will be finalised by the exec by May 7th.
